Now, recycling is interactive: “Rifiutologo” tells you where to throw your waste

The Hera app reads the barcodes of 400,000 products and tells users where to throw them to help them handle them properly. It also allows you to report against deterioration

Separate collection has never been easier. In fact, now, with Hera’s Rifiutologo app (which has been downloaded nearly 54,000 times), this helps avoid errors: it reads the barcodes of 400,000 products and tells users where to throw them.

By scanning the barcode of the milk carton Users can receive real-time information about the bottling method through Rifiutologo, and they can also immediately obtain information about the disposal method of the municipalities in Hera’s management area through a jar of jam through the mobile phone camera. The application is free, can be downloaded on www.ilrifiutologo.it, and is available for iPhone/iPad, Android and Windows Phone.

Users actively participate in improving services. In fact, if the code cannot be recognized, citizens can report the code and Hera will insert the product into the system. Through this “crowdsourcing” mechanism (that is, the user’s own contribution), the service will continue to be improved.

Thanks to rejection experts, it is also possible to make anti-degradation reports: The app also allows you to send anonymous but georeferenced photos (hence geographic coordinates) to report any discarded waste, too full or damaged bins, and cleaning requirements. Therefore, through the smartphone’s GPS, Rifiutologist is able to automatically identify the location and allow real-time personalized messages to Hera’s environmental service technicians, allowing them to intervene in a timely manner to correct particularly serious situations. Aiming to always provide quality services for maintenance The dignity of the city.

Video “Star Recycling”. The video aims to make people smile at the separate waste collection, and the video continuously quotes quotes from “Star Wars”. Pippo Santanastaso (Pippo Santanastaso) plays Rifiutologo, an ancient saint located between Emilia “umarell” and Obi-Wan Kenobi. In just a few months, the number of views of the video has exceeded 150,000, and it has also been included as “extra content” for the new version of the application.
