Lake with “holes”: Spectacular video

Covãodo Conchos Lake in Portugal has unique features that other lakes do not have. But this is because it is not a real lake, but an artificial dam, which was built in 1912 and completed in 1955 to bring water to the hydroelectric power plant in Sabugueiro. A video taken by a drone, posted to YouTube by user ProBilder, shows the hole, which is located in the most important mountain range in the inland Portugal, Serra de Estrela, the 123,000 cubic meters Meters in the dam. In the southern part of the lake, there is a circular gap where water is sucked into an overflow (excess drainage system) up to 4.6 meters deep and 48 meters wide. The overflow is made of granite and is the initial part of a tunnel. Over a kilometer and a half, the water in Ribeira das Naves was diverted for power generation at the Sabugueiro plant. The video was filmed by three young Portuguese with a drone and posted on YouTube. It has been viewed nearly four million times.
